My problem is center of gravity and leverage

I can't imagine any manufacturer producing a body or lens, which, in any combination, is structurally weak. That said, my problem is the predominant mass extending out from the tripod mount on the camera body. With a typical 300 mm zoom, this can be a bit unstable, even with a carbon-fiber tripod and one leg beneath the axis of the lens. The other problem is the leverage this provides at the front of a fully extended lens making manual focusing very shaky.
