Sure I've got sharper lenses - and faster - but none more flexible.

Recently I've been taking photos of a puppy. That puppy runs around and can be at the end of a yard one moment, underfoot the next. I've found that my 70-200 f/2.8 and my 35-70 f/2.8 are too limited. The 18-200 is flexible enough to keep up with the little one.

I've used the 18-200 on trips but I've also used it for serious projects where flexibility and avoidance of having to change lenses was more important than the last word in sharpness. For the most part I'm taking pictures of natural things where the distortion is not so obvious. I've never had someone complain about the distortion in a 18-200 photo.
