The autofocus is not fast, but it's accurate. I would not rely on it for sports or action shots. But, otherwise, it's fine. What kinds of things are you shooting? I shoot things that don't generally demand super fast AF, so for me it's a non-issue...by the way, that includes kids. The one thing that's different vs. most "modern" AF cameras is that you need to learn to use the AF, and that has a lot to do with the parallax error issue. Many of the complaints on AF in this forum are from people who use the camera like a p&s - it's not to be used that way, it takes more effort than many are willing to give. If you want something that's a p&s shoot, probably should look elsewhere.

These were from yesterday...all of them I nailed the first time, and missed nothing due to AF limitations.
