the f 2.5 is not a aps-c f2.8 eqivalent at all.. Composition wise 12 mm is interestin,g f2.8 a bit for shutter speed but with relation to dof its utterly uninteresting.

this would have been a interesting lense if it was f1.8 or f 2.0 OR f 3 to 4 and very cheap.

this combo is not very interesting, to much of a compromise. It does not grt a grip on the big limitation of m43, dof control.

also if price rumors ate correct its a joke. Panasonic please look at Oly. 45 mm 1.8, 12 mm f 2.0, maybe a 75 mm 1.8, thats how to do it.

It's not TOO much of a compromise for me. For a zoom lens on a small digital body it's an excellent compromise to me. Reasonably fast, compact and 24-70mm FF equivalent FOV. For what I'd use it for f/2.8 is way good enough. If you want low DOF get some m43 primes which are widely available.

If it was an f/2 lens the gain in DOF would be very much taken away by how much larger the lens would be - a m43 body would then look pretty small with such a lens attached - and it would be insanely expensive.

A compromise is, by definition, not going to make everybody happy. IMHO wanting an f/2 24-XX zoom and expecting it to have less compromises is unrealistic.

Besides, m43 was never about gaining shallow DOF - it is about system compactness while achieving the same FOV as larger formats.
