The arguments are getting increasingly crazy due to the obsession about shallow DOF. It is as if only images with shallow DOF are aesthetically acceptable! What a wrong perception!

Honestly, I have seen more images broken due to not enough DOf than vice versa. To me the increased DOF is one of the major advantages of m4/3.

You have to take the characteristics of m4/3 as they are: it is the system with the following advantages:

  • light and small

  • larger DOF

  • more accurate AF

  • life exposure control through view finder

If you want the most shallow DOF, you need to buy full frame systems and digest the numerous disadvantages :

  • bulk and weight

  • more expensive

  • broken images because of not enough DOF

  • difficult to keep focus control

  • too many lenses, which can't cope with the large sensor

Just the system, which has the characteristics, which suites you best, but don't argue that an equivalent lens is not equivalent. It is. You may, however, be in the wrong system. That has nothing to do with the specs of the new 12-35mm zoom.

the f 2.5 is not a aps-c f2.8 eqivalent at all.. Composition wise 12 mm is interestin,g f2.8 a bit for shutter speed but with relation to dof its utterly uninteresting.

this would have been a interesting lense if it was f1.8 or f 2.0 OR f 3 to 4 and very cheap.

this combo is not very interesting, to much of a compromise. It does not grt a grip on the big limitation of m43, dof control.

also if price rumors ate correct its a joke. Panasonic please look at Oly. 45 mm 1.8, 12 mm f 2.0, maybe a 75 mm 1.8, thats how to do it.
