I want to do some night photography with long exposures, I have one 18-55 kit lens and the other one is 70-300 IS. Just wanted to know if putting that 70-300 lens on camera on a tripod would be ok for 600D? that lens is heavy, if I let it on tripod for 2 hrs straight that will put a lot of strain on the small plastic body of 600D. Could that damage the body?

Well, you carry the 70-300 on the body around with you by hand or not?

Moving the 70-300 when mounted to the body produces actually a lot more strain in terms of g-forces than when it sits stationary on a tripod. The mount is metal, btw.
So, it should be fine.

Please help!
