E-M5 with new 12-35 f2.8 weather sealed lens

Vignetting at widest angle and wide open is expected. It is 12mm after all.... You should say Oly 14-35mm f/2 SWD is exceptional. 4/3 also has the benefit of the largest image circle/sensor size ratio of all format, and that's why 4/3 lenses (especially SHG like 14-35mm) is very big.

Now, don't we all wish there is an Oly (i.e. optical correct) lens of that focal length? Maybe $200 less than the Panasonic's because it doesn't need OIS? Afterall, Panasonic released Leica 14-50mm f/2.8-3.5 (for 4/3) before Oly 14-35mm f/2 SWD, so hopefully Oly will release a contender in a similar pattern. m4/3's primes line up are pretty complete already (except for a super telephoto. Tokina 300mm f/6.3 is a mirror, not a regular lens).
