Actually, it could have been simplified even more by removing that mode dial all together. What it does could have been menu selectable.

You may as well remove the "F" button as well then, given that Nikon won't let us configure it to do something more useful.

Well, my view is to give things a try and see how they work out. That's what I did with the V1 - it didn't work for me, so I bought something else. I think the Nikon 1 system has got lots of potential, and will be curious to see what they do with the V2, etc. Hopefully they are listening to their users!
