as for the op's question, A is almost always what i use, why? bc it keeps the exposure at 0. S does this too, but i dont like my aperture being messed with. all i have to worry about in A is my shutter speed, and that usually only matters much when im shooting motion. A allows me to expose properly and just shoot. if i am doing things like super dark shots and i want to overexpose to normal light, i use M.

the only time i use S is in super bright light when i need a fast shutter speed. i set it to 1:4000 and throw on auto iso in case i hit a shadow. i dont like my dof being too narrow when im not expecting it. so 95% i use A. 4.9% i use M. they can throw out S and the noob modes for all i care.
