Betn,

I have the Tamron SP 1.4X (and 3X) teleconverters to use on my 80-200L. I have not tried the 1.4X on my 28-135. If you need to know, I can give it whirl and post a sample or two.

OK, I know that the canon 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters work only
with certain focal length L glass. What about the other third party
teleconverters? I read somewhere that the Tamron works with most
lenses, not just the L ones. Is that correct?

What about the quality? How would the Tamron glass compare to the
Canon?

Canon 1D, 50mm 1.4, 28-135 USM IS, (something wide coming next), I
didn't realize how soon! 20-35mm 3.5-4.5.
