I figure we could look at sizes and weights of APSC and 4/3rds cameras in two separate sections, just to make what we are looking at clear

first the lightweights
Canon EOS 600D, 133 x 100 x 80 mm, 440g
Nikon D3200, 125 x 96 x 77 mm, 540g
Olympus E-420, 130 x 91 x 53 mm, 425g
Olympus OM-D E-M5, 122 x 89 x 43 mm, 425g
Pentax K-x, 123 x 92 x 68 mm, 580g
Sony SLT-A35, 124 x 92 x 85 mm, 415g

now the heavyweights
Canon EOS 7D, 148 x 111 x 74 mm, 860g
Nikon D300S, 147 x 114 x 74 mm , 938g
Nikon D7000, 132 x 105 x 77 mm, 780g
Olympus E-5, 143 x 117 x 75 mm, 800g
Olympus E-30, 142 x 108 x 75 mm, 695g
Pentax K-5, 131 x 97 x 73 mm, 740g
Sigma SD1, 146 × 113 × 80 mm, 796g
Sony SLT-A77, 143 x 104 x 81 mm, 732g

lightweights range: 133-122, 100-89, 85-43, 580-415g
heavyweights range: 148-131, 114-97, 81-73, 938-695g

Mean Lightweight: 126 x 93 x 68; 471g
Mean Heavyweight: 142 x 108 x 76; 792g

compare both ends
M5 vs mean
122 x 89 x 43 mm, 425g
126 x 93 x 68; 471g

E5 vs mean
143 x 117 x 75 mm, 800g
142 x 108 x 76; 792g

doesnt seem to me that either are all that far from the range they are intended to fit in, excepting that M5 without an adapter is thinner than the mean.
