D800 with the 28-300 amazing DR left in this image after cropping

Many thanks for the response. What prompted the question, was seeing that many used the 18/200 on the D300, yourself included, with really very good results. The 28/300 being seen as a direct replacement for FX I guess, was if the quality could be judged as being kind of, like for like, when compared to the Dx version.

Guess you have answered that for me, many thanks. Will wait to see what Nikon do in the Autumn, before deciding whether to change the D300 & what for.
