I am assembling a lightweight "travel kit" for a D800E.
Backed up by Thom Hogans (:)) latest article ....
I was thinking of the new 28mm f1.8G, 50mm f1.8G and 85mm f1.8G

However I would like wider, and would tend to do landscape and architectural pictures between f5.6 and f11, so the 20mm f2.8D might be a better choice then the new (untested - but surely good 28mm) as it gives me a wider perspective

The lenses you have chosen are right on and with plausible costs.

The 20/2.8 Nikkor has not been designed for film. What we observe as slight fall of sharpness through corners with film, becomes rather excessive with FF digital, especially on hi-res sensors and your camera will accentuate these one step further. Add to these also CA to be dealt with at each stop. It's no match to your 28 at all.

I used it since may be 20 years. I will order 21 Distagon to go besides my 35/2 Summicron with Leitax on the D800E.
