I would actually suggest the Oly 45 f1.8. I think it makes more sense to be able to hang back a bit with a moderate telephoto. With a 14 or 20 lens, you have to be up pretty close or you're shooting full body shots. For children, not that I have any, but I prefer the 3/4 portrait look where you're capturing their facial expressions - along with all their snot and buggers. You can often capture more natural poses than when you're right in the kid's face. I think it focuses fairly fast, certainly better than the 20.

Actually, now that I think about, I really don't like kids all that much, but I guess you gotta do what ya gotta do.
