Some truth to that but not enough

Electronic devices usually do get cheaper as time goes on. But not always and not immediately. Moores law and all that are more appropriate to discussions of processors than cameras. All of that aside, however, the single most important factor controlling the cost of Japanese cameras, or any other Asian produced goods, is the exchange rate of East to West currencies. If that is taken into account, that is probably the most important factor in the 5D3 pricing, which Nikon cannot long ignore, except at their own financial peril. If you ignore China's mercantile war tactics in tying their currencies to the dollar, the currency exchange rates explain all this very well.

Keep learning; share knowledge; think seriously about outcomes; seek wisdom.
