Hi Dock. I leave my camera on manual for birding so the exposure is not affected by changes in backgrounds. Also, for this one, All the action was across this pond so focus was pretty much out there.

You can see the bird's legs though and he'd just sprang from that limb right above the water. Well, maybe the limb isn't in the image. I'd been watching it. What I was planning was a shot of a nest of Anhingas above and to the right of this shot. It was also a bit far and would have had to be a 100% Crop. I need to bring longer glass in for shooting to the other side of that pond. I don't always because there's a trail behind there. You can just see part of that trail in the shot.

Most of the time all the birds are so close back there, you don't need much reach.
