D800 overexppsure?
May 16, 2012

Just received D800 and regularly experiencing over-exposure by the camera, necessitating a 1/3 to 1 1/2 stop exposure compensation. Happens with matrix, center-weighted, or spot metering and on multiple lenses. Visible in computer files as well so on the, LCD so it's not a matter of LCD brightness

I wouldn't mind this if all I had to do was set the exposure compensation say to 1/7 under and be done with it. But the overexposure is inconsistent. Varies from 1/3 to 1 1/2 stops. Happens more in bright light contrasty sunlight than in even shade.

My D3 generally meters was 1/3 to 2/3 overexposure and that's manageable though again, if it were always consistent that would be better.

Anyone else have this D800 issue?

Resolution, including sending back for tuning or replacement?

thank you
