I don't have the really big exotics so this is not to show off but to show sense of scale and why we especially value small lenses with good optics for travel and walk-around.
I grouped them by the general function I'm planning for the D800E.

One thing I can't show are the relative weight. The lenses in the center are so much lighter than the lenses on the right. The Zeiss lenses might be relatively compact but they are solid metal and very heavy. The Pro group on the left are relatively heavy (even for their size) as well but not to the level of the right group.

24-70 (events)
70-200VR2 (kids sports)

Center group (My small travel kit)
20/2.8D
35/2D
50/1.8G
85/1.8G

Right group (When I'm shooting for pure pleasure things that don't move too fast)
24/1.4G
Zeiss 35/2
Zeiss 50/2
Zeiss 100/2
