Thank you for the critique, I'll see what I can do about the purple patch area of the shot. This cactus plant is nestled in our front flower bed by our brick steps leading to front door ... and that "purple' area is some of those bricks/mortar. Maybe darkening up that area a bit will work.

On the lighting .... I got a little lucky with some cloud cover which evened out any potential bright spots and shadows.

I purposely slightly underexposed the shot .... I've had issues when taking shots of brightly colored flowers they yellow, red, or white .... getting blown out. It's easier for me to brighten something up a little than trying to recover blown out areas.
