Google Drive does support versioning
In reply to Jim Cockfield, May 15, 2012

Digging deeper, I see that Google Drive does support file versioning (which is one feature I like about Dropbox, so that you can go back to an earlier version if needed).

So, once they have better integration with Linux (apps that lets you setup folders that are automatically synced to Google Drive with menu choices for Google Drive Features integrated into Linux File Managers), I may use it for some things.

Dropbox does that for me now with Linux.

You can use third party software for backup and sync purposes with Google Drive under Linux (they exist for Google Docs and should work with Google Drive now that docs stored show up in your Google Drive space). But, the File Manager integration isn't there yet.

Google has already said they're working on Linux client software for Google Drive. So, I'll test drive it whenever they get finished with it and make it available for download (and there's no telling how long that will take).
