Richard,

I bought a Benro carbon tripod online about 5 years ago and w not happy with the stability and especially the locking mechanism of the legs, which I found a pain to operate. I sold the tripod within weeks.

I then moved to Beijing for 2 years and there is a camera mall. Went there with my Markins M3 head and D300-70/200/2.8 combo, mounted them on a bunch of tripods and took test shots at 200mm with self timer without mirror lockup. Checked for vibration induced blur. The winner was a Velbon Camargue carbon tripod, which was well made, well priced and had very low vibrations. The leg locking mechanism was also much better to operate.

Personally I will not buy Benro again.

Best regards, Surf

I am looking at the Benro C2692TB1 tripod. Its about 529 but I can get it for 375 from China using Ebay. Are there any disadvantages form buying from China?

Thanks
