Maybe a pinch of reality salt would help

The D800 and 5DIII. They are not that much better than their predecessors or the high end APS bodies (sensor technology again, and the seldom used category), but they're still $3500. That's a stack of change. And it's the same price as the 5D years ago, while the better APS bodies (7D, D7000) have dropped quite a bit over their predecessors. Also, both had flaws (AF, light leaks) that a $3500 camera quite simply should not have had. For that sort of money, it had better darn well be perfect in all respects.

Well well, looking at one of the largest US seller, Amazon, the picture is not that great, is it? Even among ML, the new Oly is behind the Sony Nex7 and 5N, as well as the Oly's own EPL1:

Then look at all digital cameras sales and try to find where it is. The EPL1 is the first ML camera at #41:

Before that the D5100, the 600D, the D800, the D3100 and right there at 42 is the D7000, all except the D800, cameras selling for over a year now. The Nex7 is 54, the 5D3 is 64 now, at 71 is the Nex5N, more dslrs, otehr version of D7000, Canons, etc, then, finally, OMD is 98!

Ok, maybe this is not the right place to look at, how about Japan sales?

OMD is 21st, after many other cameras, including the "low interest" D800. Or the poor performing J1, or many Sonys, Canons, Nikons and Pannys.

Is backorder affecting these figures? Maybe, if not, the new Oly is not such a hot item, even among enthusiasts.
