I tried everything I could come up with in order to get the kind of Rattlesnaking where only the battery removal solves it, but no success. So 1) and 2) are currently the ones that are reproducible for me and may even be intentional by Olympus (they do make some sense at least).

Maybe I had the camera in Movie mode before taking out the battery and then changed mode at once when putting it back in?! Possible, because I didn't know about the other stuff then.
