I agree with Arretose, a month is not enough time for they to first find the fix, then find a fix, then correct the fix, which may mean altering either a part, or manufacturing process. Then manufacture the fixed units, then package them, then ship them, then get them put on the shelves.

Even after all that, retail outlets will likely still be selling out their older stock before the new stock sees customers, unless nikon does a full recall, which I doubt, since not everyone seems to have the issue.

On the otherhand if it can be fixed via firmware, then perhaps it'll be quicker, and which case you could just keep your D800 and wait to see what the solution is.
