My Last 7 month trip I took a
1Ds3
17-40 L
24-105 L
100-400 L
Sony TT laptop, multiple hard drives

Which I carried in a lowepro rover to Everest base camp, across Africa, up volcanos in Cemtral America etc. Wow what a weight, but soooo worth it

Previous 10 month trip
5D
Same lenses

If I was going again, I'd probably have a tough choice between
5d3
14-24 nikon adapted
24-70 mk 2 if its as sharp as my contax zeiss 35-70/3.4
100-400 L

Or.... An NEX 7

Re the EP3... I also have oneof these which I was using for hiking, and missed my 1ds3 / 5d2 quality...

It got replaced by a sony nex 7 which coupled with the decent primes

19/2.8, 24/1.8, 30/2.8 and 50/1.8. Is as good as the 5d2 at base ISO. Its a fantastic lamdscape travel camera. I no longer miss out when I carry this light weight solutiom!
