Choose LR4 no doubt! 2 weeks of using without any problem.
Process 2012 is just amazing!
The potential to recover shadows and highlight is huge.
Point Curves is absolute must have for proper color correction.
Forget LR3.

Dare to state that with LR4 you even do not need photoshop to make decent pre-press. (Note: In most cases with good originals).

I agree with all except "Forget LR3"

The highlight recovery of the 2012 process is amazing as compared to 2010 process. I have photographed CC24 from underexposure to overexposure using compensation. The 2012 process recovered highlight a stop over where the 2010 process gave up.

However, the RGB reading of the CC24 color patches for LR4 (2012 process) are significantly off from the defined by the table. The 2010 has a narrower recovery range, however when the WB and reading for patch 20 set to 78.7 the RGB reading for all color patches are in place per the table. It is important when correct colors must be preserved.

I have switched to LR$ 2012 process and only use the 2010 process when the colors must be preserved as art piece photography like paintings.
