I am pretty happy with my Sigma, especially after buying it last summer from Amazon, when they had it on a crazy sale for few days at $975 and no tax. The new Canon would cost me three times as much right now, very close to 3K with tax in - as a hobbyist I don't think I could justify that price difference.

But judge for yourself, here is the shot taken with the Sigma at 200mm at 2.8 with an old 50D, sharpening turned off when converting to jpeg in DPP.

Just my 2 cents... I am not saying Canon is not better, just seems overpriced when compared to Sigma.
