Alternative to DMC-LX5?

Hello, noobie here.
I am looking to buy a DMC-LX5 ($369 amazon) for shooting video and casually shooting photo. I was wondering if there are is a better camera to go with? I am looking at $500 or under. I am looking to capture video of just life and post on youtube, but I do sometimes make short films. Mostly amateur stuff. I was contemplating before on using T3i for video but I don't know if it is worth it.
70% video taking 30% photo
