It sounds like you have a calibration issue. It is really easy to fix yourself. It is a very common problem for SLRs
Go to the menu screen, select the spanner. Scroll down to AF Fine-Tune. Adjust until you get it right.
I use the Michael Tapes lens calibration kit to help with this, but you can use a long ruler as well.
