How to test my new lenses ?
May 11, 2012

I just bought the E-M5, with the dual kit lenses (14-42 and 40-150), and with the 45mm f1.8 (I was traveling through Singapore, so cheaper than Europe, with tax refund as a bonus).

I read quite a lot of reviews and forums about gear & lenses, and it struck me how often a lens or body was defective and had to be replaced. I am not a pro or an expert, so I cannot judge myself whether this or that lens has an optical defect just by looking at the photos that I took until now, at least not without some help/guidance.

Are there some standard shots that one can take to test the lens? And do you need to do this for all apertures, or focal lengths (for zoom lenses)?

Thanks for your advice.

PS: although I could understand a "if you cannot see it yourself in your photos, you should be happy and the lenses are good enough for you" reply, I still would like to know that the gear I purchased is of "100%" quality...
