Here is a link to what I think is the best site for beginners. It allows you to make changes to your camera settings, shoot a picture and see the results immediately. It is best to only change one setting at a time so you will understand what happens when you make a small or drastic change.

I would also suggest the usual two reads of the manual. The first is a quick read to get a basic understanding of the camera and its capabilities. The second read is a slower one specifically focused on stuff you still don't understand.

Also, if and when a Training Video is available for your camera, buy it. Most people retain a certain % of information they read, while many learn more quickly (and remember better) when text and graphics are combined.
