Finally did it, bought a D7000
May 11, 2012

After much debate and thought, I finally did it, yesterday I bought a D7000 for use as a summer travel camera, instead of my D3.

I also bought a tripod (something I've never used before) and last night set the camera on it to take 180 photos, which I used to make my first time-lapse video:

Am I crazy, to give up the awesome D3 for three months of travel, for the sake of saving a little weight and bulk? I figure I won't need the 9-frames-per-second, and having video might come in useful as well...

Also bought a Tokina 11-16/2.8 and now I'm debating whether to take my 24-70/2.8 or instead leave it at home and go ultra lightweight and just take my 50/1.4 for when I need longer length and low light...

Banff / Canada
Current: D3, D7000, 50/1.4, 24-70/2.8, 80-200/2.8
New lens: Tokina 11-16/2.8
Retired: F, F80, D70, 50/1.8, 20/2.8, 10.5/2.8
Stolen: 85/1.4; Broken: 17-35/2.8, D100
