Yes, the wall behind her is very light (not far from white). By adding light I guess you mean exposure compensation on the flash.


Yes, either more flash power with the compensation setting, or any of the things I said above (wider aperture, higher ISO etc). All you need to think about is adding another stop of light to your subject, then it's easy. You can add more light, or use a wider aperture so that more light goes through the hole, or you increase the ISO to boost your camera sensitivity to the same light.
