I've used Elements and its forerunner for about 10 years but have just been given a "free-offer" copy of Lightroom 3 by Panasonic. I shoot small JPEG+RAW and keep one or the other depending if I think the shot justifies printing large with a lot of post manipulation and/or cropping for comps and/or display.

Should I change to LR and why?
Thanks for the advice
Derek

The biggest reason to use LR is the edits are none destructive and you can have several versions the same image (e.g. a B&W version and a colour one) without the need too have multiple copies of the image. LR just keeps the edits.

Some sophisticated edits are not possible in LR (but you are talking way beyond cropping, contrast and so on here and I find it rare I need more than LR's edting tools) and so you can get it to invoke an external editor such as Elements for those and it will also manage the resulting new image in its catalogue.
