Its a gimmick because its there to attract the attention of those who don't understand just how limited in real life it will be.

Only having application for static objects and as such is considerably more affective done out of camera unless you only want image of second hands

Extensive bracketing capabilities are much more useful and is why they appear on higher end cameras whereas the 'gimmics' don't

Pentax has nothing like that. The version in K-7 doesn't work without tripod, and it's not at all capable of compensating for minor movement by the subject.

The k7 implementation is considerably better than the a200.
And is probably where Sony got the idea from.

All subsequent Pentax models have had auto align but again its a throw away feature .
