NYC trip- DSLR or P&S?

Hi folks, I'm making my first ever trip to New York City for a weekend next month and am trying to decide whether I should bring my DSLR and a lens or two or keep it simple and just bring my compact P&S. My Panasonic compact had a decent wide angle of 25mm to 200mm but I love to use my Sigma 10-20mm on my Nikon D7000 as well as an 18-200mm VR as well as a 35mm, 50mm and 85mm prime lenses...

Is it worth it to lug a DSLR and look like a tourist and open my self up to possibly being mugged or should I just keep it simple and light?

I'd appreciate any help from those who have traveled to NYC to take photos...
