Which Wide/Standard lens to add.
May 9, 2012

I shoot with a T1i, and have a 70-200 f4 IS USM lens and a 18-55IS lens. Would like to purchase a wide/standard zoom, for most general/walkaround shooting. I've whittled my choices down to these:
Canon 17-85--best over all range( too expensive to buy NEW)
Sigma 17-70--good range and aperture
Tamron 28-75--more standard range, but less wide. Good 2.8 constant ap.
Tamron 17-50--2.8 throughout, but a shorter overall range

I'm thinking that any of these might be an upgrade to my 18-55IS.

Is this true? Haven't used the 18-55 lens to know, but have heard that it gets weaker from 35mm to 55mm.

I'm also thinking of acquiring a 50 1.8 for lower light conditions.

Anyway, I'd like you thoughts on the zoom choices. Or would you opt for forgetting about any of those 4 and just get the 50 1.8 (along with the 18-55IS and 70-200 tele)?

I'd appreciate your input. But need to hear ASAP. Thanks
