Not to defend the lady or anything but one thing you have to realize is that we live in times where everyone thinks he's a photographer and can do the job with any kind of equipment he happens to own. Too many of these so called photographers produce absolute crap because they don't know what they are doing.

Someone paying a photographer to shoot a wedding is usually paying a decent amount of money. If seeing a less than professional looking camera makes them feel uncomfortable, well it's their money and they deserve to know that the person they are hiring is going to do a professional job. You may know that you can, but you have to do whatever is necessary to make your customers feel confidence in you. It's similar in a way to meeting the guy who is going to do open heart surgery on you and saying to yourself that he looks like a 20 year old. He may very well be able to do the job, but it is not uncommon for someone seeing him to feel just a bit uncomfortable.

No you do not HAVE to use a D800 or a Hassy to do a wedding, but if you don't you have to accept the fact that this is just the way a number of people are going to react. Either find a way to instill confidence, or don't use this equipment.
