Agree with everything here except one.

Focusing in the "center" may not be what you want, and tyring to judge hyperfcoal distance (focus "a little closer to you") is NOT the easiest way to go.

Like I said above, focus on the person's eyes closest to you. That way, anyone who is behind the primary focus subject will be as close to the focal plane (DOF-wise) as possible.
