Could someone explain all the abbreviations I see associated with these lenses?

Some say MC, others MD
Some say ROKKOR, others ROKKOR-X
Some say PG, others PF

Thanks.

  • Rokkor is simply the lens brand name (Celtic was another Minolta lens line, possibly cheaper but some well-made allegedly)

  • MC = meter-coupled (not multi-coated as is sometimes thought)

  • -x designates "sold to the American market" and seems to designate no other difference to lens quality or construction.

  • MD is a later designation associated with the more plastic construction of the 80's I think?

  • PG/PF etc? No idea

Google "Rokkorfiles" for more info. Nice well-made lenses.

Alan
