Broken red ring on a "L" lens

Yes, on two 24-105s. One I sent in for service to check balky AF, barrel play, and eliminate barrel droop. They replaced the red ring as part of the $125 flat rate service. The other remains red ringless.

This has not happened on any other L lens (and I have a bunch) going back to 1998.

BTW, the service was about 3 years ago and the lens is still working perfectly, including no droop.
