I talked to my wife. She didn't mind the flash popping up & was fine with the zoom range. Although given the use..candid people shots...having a long zoom range isn't that big of deal.

Personally, she'd like something that did better in low light w/o flash. Although for the type of camera & price it was fine.

low light w/o flash sounds important for the convention picts. I returned my S8100 because with the flash off it would consistently select very slow shutter speeds resulting in blurry picts. It was umbearable. Even my canons will be obtimistic with 1/15s (which is not OK) but he S8100 would goe really slow, 1/10 1/5s or whatever and while the wonderful IS would allow an OK picture of stationary things it was useless for people.

You sound like a nikon guy so I'ld look at the P300 or P310 with the fast lens or the canon S100 or Olympus XZ-1 for inside w/o flash in a point and shoot if you need the low light performance. If not the S8100 was great outside and I imagine the S8200 is just as good or better.

Thanks for the info, wow that 1.8 lens really is low lite although only a 4.3X is not what I'm looking for. I decided to go with the S9300. hopefully it will be ok indoors.

Thanks again.
