  1. 4 is the best and most flattering IMO... Another important part of portrait photography is directing the model. Look up tips on posing.

One important thing I picked up is to have the model use her muscles to support herself. Don't let them rest on anything, be it their joints, their hands, or chair/bench/wall/stool whatever. This will make them look toned and dynamic. People resting look static.

Also, be conscious of the back ground. move in a circle around her and try to get more of an interesting backdrop. Leading lines, and natural frames work well.
