Don't curse the focus speed. There is plenty of advice on this here and in other forums about how to get the speediest response. But this isn't a camera for shooting F1, though I'm discovering that it can do most other things.

The best tip I've seen is to forget about the half-press and fully trigger the shutter in a single movement. I've been doing this for a couple of days and it really seems to speed things up - and still achieves high precision focus - with the 18mm and 35mm lenses. This technique also works pretty well with the 60mm (though not in macro mode).

Not sure if I think it has a soul - but it certainly has a character that distinguishes the XP1 from every other camera I've used. And if you learn to work with it you will be richly rewarded.
