Broken red ring on a "L" lens

The red ring on my 24-105L just snapped off. The lens is 4 years old and in great shape. Have any of you had this issue? If so, have you had a new one put on or did you fix it yourself? If you had Canon fix it, how much did this cosmetic surgery cost?
