The Specs Manual of NX20 shows the max speed is 1/4000s using the mechanical shutter, but the max shutter speed of the camera is 1/8000s, that means from 1/4000 to 1/8000 the camera use the electronic shutter.

That´s the reason why there are not blackout between frames when is shutting 8fps in some videos.

The camera still uses a mechanical trailing shutter, so I think there would still be blackout.

Set to use the electronic shutter curtain first and the mechanical curtain second . It allows you to use fast shutter speeds from 1/4000 to 1/8000 s.

No one has a CMOS sensor with good trailing curtain electronic shutters yet for stills (fine for video using rolling shutter).

At 8fps, is it maybe showing the previous image an the display to act a bit like a delayed video?

You don´t need a global shutter, you at least need a fast rolling shutter.
