The 24-70 is around twice the price in the USA so that is a great deal! The only problem is the focal range of the 24-70 is designed for an fx camera. You would be losing the very valuable 17-23 side of the lens. On the other hand, if you shoot more portraits than landscapes, the 51-70 can be quite handy. So, it is up to you and your style of shooting. If you have or plan to buy a wide angle lens (i.e. 12-24), then the 24-70 could still fit in to your dx system. I bought the Sigma 17-70 when I had a choice and would only consider the 24-70 if I upgraded my D90 to a D700 or some other full frame camera.
