FL600R - At last 180 degrees left and right...cheap plastic feel.
May 5, 2012

I tried out the FL600R yesterday.

Its good to see full 180 degrees left and right available now for OLY. This was limited to 180 left 90 right on the FL36R and FL50R.

This is crucial to me as I bounce my flash backwards and NEED the 180 right turn to allow for that in portrait position.

That said, I cannot but feel the FL600R is a replacement for the FL36R and that another model to replace the FL50R is coming. The FL600R is not splash proof and exudes the same cheap plasticky feel the FL36R has, with the same difficulty turning positions. Its improved at least in the sense that only ONE button needs to be pressed for positions to change positions.

The LED is apparently just a LED flashlight set in the front - strong enough for short distances.

I did not have the chance to switch it on.
