Basically, I don't like the handling of the C3 (especially the buttons)

What's the trouble with the buttons--a little more force to press but that's about all I can think of?

Yes. But the buttons are both narrower and much closer to the edge of the screen, the combination making it more fiddly to use when a LCD hood is fitted (as it always is). It becomes absolutely impossible to operate the C3 wearing even thin gloves - the NEX-5 is fine - because of the size and placement of the buttons more combined with their less positive action.

The Sigma--yeah I wouldn't like using it either. I don't like cheap feeling equipment.

I suppose that's my real reason as well, although its optics are so good I would have tolerated the feel of the lens if the focus ring had been fit for purpose. Optically it's a very fine lens.
