No Canon lens to Nikon body adapters

Liveview also seems fine. I am coming from a Canon 40D and it seems just as good as the Canon so far. I read a lot about how liveview is not very good.

First question first:

Nikon bodies have a deeper flange-to-sensor distance, thus it's not possible to use Canon lenses on Nikon bodies (not to mention the larger Canon mount diameter). An adapter could be made, but its usefulness would be limited to macro, as it would act as an extension tube.

I've found two issues with D800 live view:

1. Digital gain is wildly inconsistent; at times there will be high boost, at other times not.

2. Apparent line skipping with live view zoomed fully in; there is only half vertical resolution. You will not see all of the stars and LV manual focusing becomes quite tricky for astro. D3s and D4 LV is fine for this application. For high-detail test images, I've been resorting to successive-approximation manual focusing by playing back images.
